Marshalls Construction Ltd., Elland, awarded UltraSyntec the job of turning an old and tired warehouse floor into a smooth, clean, contemporary working surface to meet the many diverse and varied industries.
Floor area: 2400 sq. metres
Specification: Two coats of DPM Primer over the entire area. Trowel applied 2mm self-smoothing epoxy screed followed by one coat of light stable chemically resistant coating.

Polyeurothane Screed saved the day at a new food outlet in Leeds.
The chiller had power floated concrete in-situ, which had failed in certain areas. UltraSyntec advised that this could have caused obvious problems once the chiller was activated, as the temperature would drop to approximately -20C (-4 Fahrenheit). Therefore a suitable, robust, non-taint surface was required for this type of environment.
Floor area: 300 sq. metres
Specification: The area was diamond ground followed by a single coat of DPM Primer. Heavy Duty Polyurethane Screed was then laid at a depth of 9mm.

Hydro Building Systems (Wakefield) contacted UltraSyntec to create a pedestrian walkway around their warehouse.
The company used a number of six tonne fork trucks that were continually in operation so safety was of key importance.
The specification was two coats of High Build Epoxy Coating in green and Safety Red.

Dixon’s Milk Ices (Huddersfield) had a problem floor in their Milk Parlour.
They required a hard wearing floor that could stand up to the daily grind of hot and cold water, along with heavy steel. The floor also had to be pleasing to the eye for both staff and customers alike.
The specification was for Heavy Duty Polyurethane Screed at 9mm in Chelsea Blue with a Heavy Duty Render running in to stainless steel trim.
The PPHJV (Pinderfields & Pontefract Hospital Joint Venture) is the new state-of-the-art hospital currently being constructed by Balfour Beatty at the old Pinderfields site in Wakefield.
UltraSyntec‘s work is ongoing with this project and will run until 2009. The task was to prepare, then ‘tank out’ the large boiler rooms which are situated around this extensive hospital site. With the help of Flowcrete we have put together a four coat system. This starts with two coats of Flowcrete Hydroseal DPM, in two separate colours, red and yellow, which are rolled at 90 degrees to each other.
This is followed by two coats of Flowcrete‘s SF41 High Build Epoxy, which has been specially manufactured to match Balfour Beatty's corporate blue
"We are extremely happy with the work UltraSyntec are carrying out on this project."

Emballator Packaging contacted UltraSyntec regarding a problem area of flooring, where an old cementitious screed was deteriorating at a rapid rate. The company was also experiencing problems with dust as well as coping with an uneven surface which was not suitable for the printing machinery installed in the area.
The solution was to remove the 2mm cementitious screed using brakers and industrial diamond grinders. Once the screed had been removed down to the substrate, this was then primed and left to cure overnight.
The following day, UltraSyntec laid a 3mm epoxy self smoothing flooring system which created an even, smooth and shiny floor. As the customer would be using chemical agents on the printing machinery and spills and splashes were likely to occur, UltraSyntec also specified a seal coat over the whole area to increase resistance to chemical attack.
"A job well done!"
